곰TV, 해외 프리미엄 서비스 가격 인하 결정

곰TV가 해외 프리미엄 서비스 가격을 전격 인하하겠다고 밝힌 것으로 나타났다.
지난 9월 1일 곰TV가 해외 지역에서는 실시간 티켓과 VOD 티켓에 대해 각각 $19.95 및 $29.95로 분리 과금하겠다는 정책을 발표한 이후 해외 e스포츠 팬들은 극도로 불만을 표출하고 나섰었다. 현재까지 팀리퀴드의 관련 게시물에는 80 페이지 넘는 의견이 달리며 토론이 이루어지고 있다.
이에 곰TV는 최근 프리미엄 티켓을 구매한 사용자들에게 이메일을 보내 서비스 과금 정책의 변경을 시사하며 진화에 나섰다.

As you know, we do not have free streaming service on GOMtv.net. Since our service has been opened to public, lots of e-sports fans have requested for the free streaming service.
We’ve thought this issue over for the last few days and we’ve decided to release the free service for the users. Therefore, we will service 1 season premium ticket which includes VOD service and Premium Live service, and the price will be $19.95.
With premium ticket, you can watch High Quality(500K) streaming live matches and VODs.
Free service is the Standard Quality(below 250K) streaming live only, with no VODs.
You can ask a refund if you are not happy with this new premium service. However, if you keep your purchase, we will reward you the premium ticket for 3 pre-seasons which is valid for all season in this year. Please reply to this email if you want to refund your VOD ticket before the first live broadcasting starts(at 7pm KST). Otherwise, we will consider that you keep your purchase and accept the premium service for 3 pre-seasons.

먼저, 250K 실시간 스트리밍의 경우 무료로 제공이 된다. 500K(고화질)는 실시간 티켓을 구매해야 볼 수 있다. 또한, 실시간 티켓과 VOD 티켓을 분리 과금하던 정책을 변경하여, $19.95 결제만 할 경우, 실시간과 VOD를 모두 볼 수 있도록 했다. 다만, VOD의 경우는 프리미엄 티켓을 구매 해야만 볼 수 있으며, 무료 서비스 대상이 아니다.
이미 프리미엄 티켓을 구매한 사용자들은 이번 정책 변경으로 인한 환불을 요청할 수 있다. 다만, 환불을 요청하지 않을 경우 3개 프리 시즌 이용권으로 대체해주기로 했다.
이 같은 곰TV의 과금 정책 변경에 해외 유저들은 일단 크게 반색하는 분위기다. 하지만, 여전히보지 않겠다는 의견과 500K 화질에 대해서도 불만이 많은 것으로 나타났다. 다른 여타 해외 토너먼트 대회는 1000K 내지는 1500K 서비스를 제공하고 있다는 것.
하지만, 이번 정책 변경 발표로 곰TV는 한 숨 돌릴 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 이번 곰TV의 정책 변경이 향후 해외 e스포츠 팬들에게 어떠한 여론으로 작용할 지는 조금 더 지켜봐야 알 수 있을 것으로 보인다.
