I feel that although Infestors were a bit out of control with 9 range, low mana cost, and no research needed, the nerfs currently in place are a bit excessive. However, I think that it is possible to leave the nerfs in place, add micro/decision making, and give a bit of a compensating buff with consume. I think consume would give Zerg players incentive to build Zerglings in late game, add some familiar play, and give the infestor what it needs to more properly integrate into the Zerg army. It would be more adaptive and responsive while not making it overpowered.
100 mana with an expensive and long research time changes the entire Zerg play style. The infestor is more of a high templar than a defiler now. Not to say this needs to be bw, but the infestor simply does not integrate into Zerg as well as it should now.
